![]() ![]() ![]() South Georgia Technical College offers over 200 degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit programs as well as numerous activities, events, and clubs for students. In recognition of Red Ribbon Week, the SGA set up an educational display in the lobby of the Odom Center showing the harmful effects of drug and alcohol abuse. Other activities for the week included Spirit Night at the SGTC Jets and Lady Jets scrimmage basketball doubleheader and an outdoor “Scary Movie Night”. Eric English of the Americus Police Department and Jennifer English, Director of the Middle Flint Regional E911 Center, served as judges for the costume contest. Joan Barber and Jana Stoklosa won the student group competition. In the student competition, Jessica Felton won first place, Courtney Derington placed second, and Derrick Carson finished third. The students love the chance to be creative during the week's classroom door decorating contest. October Ideas In the first semester, we celebrate Drug Awareness Week. Criminal Justice Instructor Teresa McCook took first place in the employee individual category followed by Student Affairs Assistant Terrie Smith and Cosmetology Instructor Dorothea Lusane McKenzie in second and third places respectively. Student Affairs won the employee group costume category. Several students and SGTC faculty and staff members also participated in a costume contest. The Criminal Justice program won second place, while the Law Enforcement Academy placed third. Judges for the door decorating contest were SGTC Vice President of Operations Karen Werling, SGTC Tutor and Assistant Basketball Coach Jaren Harris, and SGTC High School Initiatives Specialist Brittny Wright-McGrady.Ī painted pumpkin contest was held with first place going to the Practical Nursing program. Elisia White placed second, while Joan Barber and Jana Stoklosa finished in third place. In the student door competition, Kamiya Hollingshed was awarded first place.
